October 2016–The Environmental Protection Agency awarded Marble Block Redevelopment Corp. a $200,000 Brownfields Cleanup Grant for Phase II remediation of the historic property, the Marble Block. The Phase I cleanup had addressed the 12,000 square foot street level and basement. This grant will address basement moisture/mold and the second and third floor lead and asbestos remediation. The grant period is for three years. Credere Associates is again managing the remediation work on the property. In 2016, the Marble Block had also received a $15,000 Belvedere Historic Preservation grant which will serve as a portion of the 20% cash ($40,000) or in-kind match required for the EPA grant.
